Speaker Amp Power Calculator

Instruction:
  1. Find the sensitivity on the speaker spec sheet.
  2. Measure the distance between listener and the speaker.
  3. Input the data to below calculator.

Input:

Dynamic Range:
dB

Listening Distance:
m

Speaker Sensitivity:
dBW

Glossary:

Dynamic Range:
The ratio of the amplitude of the loudest possible undistorted sine wave to the noise amplitude. 100dB is the default value and is recommended.

Listening Distance:
The distance between the listener and the speaker.

Speaker Sensitivity:
The acoustical level that the speaker transducer(s) can produces under 1 watt.

Result:

Min Power Output:
Wrms

Glossary:

Min Power Output:
The min power is needed to drive the speaker reaching the targeted Dynamic Range and specified Listening Distance.
